The Wave Building became a new landmark of Vejle city Denmark. This unique new housing building was designed by Henning Larsen Architects. The distinctive building has been selected as winner of the prestigious Civic Trust Award. The Awards were presented at an official ceremony in People’s History Museum on March 4 in Manchester. Makati (Philippines) based Architecture firm, Buensalido Architects recently win a airport competition in Caticlan Island, the gateway to beautiful resort Boracay Island. To achieve this, different pieces of information from the island’s socio-economic profile were converted into line graph form, then superimposed with the timeline from when Boracay was discovered to the present. This act of overlaying formed an undulating grid pattern that ultimately became the basis of the building shell facilitated by digital and parametric modelling. The prefab Flood-Proof House built in area contains a small 1940 mid-century modern beach house on half of the lot, located near the San Andreas Fault. The client request to achieve maximum sustainability and minimum site alteration is addressed through innovative uses of structure and materials. Interlocking horizontal steel moment frame and truss system: this maximizes usable space above the flood level, cantilevering atop the wave-proof columns.
